Nanocyl SA, leader in developing and commercializing high value Carbon Nanotube based products worldwide, will attend NANO TECH 2016, January 27-29, Tokyo Big Sight, JAPAN.
Meet us at Nanotech 2016 in booth 6G-09.
CNT based masterbatches & compounds provide benefits to the Energy, Automotive and Electronic markets. NC7000™ CNT is the highest conductive additive generating performances at extremely low loadings.
For a commercial appointment with our business representatives at the Nanotech 2016, send requested date, time slot, topic and the name of your company to sales@nanocyl.com.
The project DEROCA has demonstrated that industrial multiwall carbon nanotubes NC7000™ are an effective synergist with other common flame retardants additives to produce flame retardant halogen-free multifunctional products.
Discover the summary of the main achievements of the project DEROCA so far inside the magazine International Innovation.
The project DEROCA which stands for “Development of safe and eco-friendly materials based on CNT-coadditives for commodity polymers” is a collaborative project coordinated by Nanocyl SA and supported by DG RTD of the European Commission.
Halogenated flame retardant additives are commonly used because of their low impact in other material properties and the low loading levels necessary to meet the required flame-retardancy; however, potential side-effects on human health and environment raise concerns about their risk-benefit balance. Their known intrinsic toxicity and stricter chemical regulations are stimulating research for safer alternatives. DEROCA aims to develop one of those alternatives.
The objectives of DEROCA are to:
- Develop and introduce new safer and more eco-friendly FRs through exploiting the synergistic effect of carbon nanotubes (fire retardancy promoter) with phosphorus based FRs and other current or new promising organic or inorganic additives in intumescent or carbon crust formation systems by identification and optimization of the most efficient/cost competitive solutions;
- Develop small scale test methods and numerical models to predict full end product standard scale test results suitable for rapid materials development and screening;
- Assess the safe use and absence of toxicity of the new FR materials in production, use and fire situations;
- Develop products to support industries to (i) switch from halogenated FRs into halogen free products and maintain their market share or to (ii) increase their market share by improving their halogen-free FR materials.
DEROCA will focus on the development of specific FR applications for five final products which represent large volumes of commodity polymers, i.e. wires & cables, insulation foams, HVAC, corrugated pipes and consumer goods.

Nanocyl announces product name changes to ease visibility and improve customer communication. The products themselves do not change.
As per April 1st 2015, product names in the following range of products will be simplified: EPOCYL™, THERMOCYL™, SIZICYL™.
EPOCYL™ is an industrial range of masterbatch based on liquid bisphenol-A (Bis-A) epoxy resin containing high concentration of carbon nanotubes (CNT).
EPOCYL™ XC R 128-06 enhances the mechanical properties (especially delamination resistance) of fiber reinforced composite materials. It features easy integration and great flexibility in design of new multifunctional materials. The product name will be simplified to EPOCYL™ 128-06.
EPOCYL™ XC E 128-05 has been specifically developed to enhance the electrical conductivity of epoxy formulations. The product name will be shortened to EPOCYL™ 128-05.
THERMOCYL™ is an experimental product range exhibiting exceptional fire resistance and thermal conductivity properties.
THERMOCYL™ XC 113 name is changed to THERMOCYL™ X1. THERMOCYL™ XC 123, which proposes a higher viscosity, will be tagged THERMOCYL™ X2.
SIZICYL™ XCR2G is a liquid sizing agent containing Carbon Nanotubes for reinforcement fibers for carbon fibers or glass fibers reinforced polymers (composite applications). Specifically engineered to improve mechanical properties of the final composite structure, without affecting the viscosity of the resin used to impregnate the fiber (e.g. by resin infusion or RTM process). SIZICYL™ XCR2G name will be adapted to SIZICYL™ X1.
